AB was founded by artist William Quigley and opened in a Los Angeles mini mall on Roberstson Blvd. in 1994.  Directed by Dan Bernier the gallery became an early launching pad for several now recognized artists such as: Manuel Ocampo, Martin Kersels, Patty Wickman, Steve Hurd, Russell Crotty, Marc Chiat,  John Sonsini, Dan Fisher, Kevin Sullivan, Bill Livingston, Gina Lamb, Toba and Rachel Khedoori,  John Ivanchenko, Jason Rhoades, George Stoll, Tamara Fites,  Julian Bismuth, Mike Bouchet and its founder William Quigley. Closing in 1996, AB NY Gallery relaunched in 2021 in East Hampton, NY with director Sarah Scribner applying a fresh aesthetic and eclectic contemporary vision for its future. AB Gallery’s focus is once again producing quality shows in an attempt to place its artists in private and public collections, foundations, and museums by collaborating with galleries, curators, art fairs and pop-up events with exciting brands and charitable causes aimed at supporting the arts.

Karl Hutter formerly of Gagosian Gallery in the 90s, now works with Van De Weghe Fine Art. The gallery specializes in the exhibition and sale of paintings, works on paper and sculpture by American and international artists of the Modern, Post-War and Contemporary periods. The gallery has presented historically focused exhibitions featuring works by Francis Alÿs, Andy Warhol, Richard Prince, Robert Rauschenberg, William Quigley, Donald Judd, Christopher Wool, Mel Bochner, Bruce Conner, John Chamberlain, Adolf Fleischmann, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cy Twombly, Roy Lichtenstein, Claude Monet, etc. Other artists who have exhibited with Karl Hutter Fine Art include Aery, Florian Süssmayr, Dennis Koch, Christopher Makos, Chris Thorson, Jedd Novatt, Paul Holberg, Brian Wills, Miwa Ogasawara.
