Around 1990 while painting in LA , he began to migrate artistically to an older generation of important conceptual artists that use language to make statements like Mike Kelley, Marc Chiat, Steve Hurd, Manuel Ocampo, Albert Oehlen, Julian Schnabel, Martin Kippenberger, Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, John Baldessari, Allen Ruppersberg and Robert Rauschenberg, etc. Quigley started writing sarcastic, humorous comments about art and specifically his own work influenced by both art history and the Entertainment business. That theme has been consistent throughout all his work.
